Only the loop's (empty loops, just looping nothing) on 2ghz pentium dual core ( to do full rendering it needs 10 seconds, without array loaded ) takes 60 ms, its about 20 fps with doing nothing (my gps with 400mhz arm SoC can render voxel based terrain with almost same speed, checked with GAPI) :/, loop with only the maths takes 5 second ( without checking results in array, which takes next 5 seconds ), so in construct events system it will never be enough fast, i dont know what about c++.

Looking for optimizations (29 secs to render a frame is little too much :/ ), if you know how to optimize it, improve speed, post it, maybe some day it can be used in games (yeah sure, when we have 100 Ghz processor, we must reduce rendering( rendering, TAKING A PHOTO BY 100 YEARS OLD CAMERA ) time from 29 secs to at least 100 ms :/ ). Position is in 3 variables: Position X, Y, Z You can change view range by changing value in 10 expression

END OF THE WORLD, Rendering took only 29 seconds, very smooth :D, but now im know that maths are good ).

I add a map generator which generates an array with random (1-6) numbers on every point at y=64, map weight is 192 MB, and it takes 256 mb of ram. Let us know if you have any questions.I made a simple 3D engine based on voxels, it can find coloured points in 3d array and display it on 2d surface.įor now it's SLOW AS HELL (Rendering one frame on phenom II x4 3.5Ghz with radeon 6850 takes 8 seconds), but it works, maybe even works good :).Īnd i have a favour to people who know math's good, to check maths in this cap, beacause math is not my strong point. Now that you know how to import images into Mega Voxels, you can experiment with the various photos and sprites to create a base for your own voxel models. And best of all, all the tools in the editor should work like you expect. Notice how it has gridlines just like a normal model. Here is the frog inside of the Model edit mode. You can even opt to edit the model like a normal model. That means you can perform all the actions you would normally perform on voxel models. What makes the pixel art different is now it is voxel art. Now that you have imported your image a new grid with the pixels converted to voxels will appear aligned to the center. That is because file systems vary depending on the operating system.

Please note that the following image might look different if you are on Android or ChomeOS. This will open the default file system on your device and allow you to select the image. To import an image into Mega Voxels select the Import (.png. So importing images like JPG or PNG is super easy in Mega Voxels. The starting point for this process is the File menu at the top left. To begin lets open Mega Voxels to an empty file we created called ImagesInMegaVoxels. Of course like we mentioned this technique will work with literally any image. Anything more than that will be clipped.įor this tutorial we decided to use a pixel art frog we created in our Illustrator Pixel Art tutorial. One last thing is that Mega Voxels does have a maximum on how many colors can be in a scene. If you attempt to import an image bigger than 256 pixels high or wide, Mega Voxels will automatically scale it down to fit that grid size. Also keep in mind that Mega Voxels has a max limit of 256x256x256 voxels on the grid. Now even though you can technically import any image, we recommend using pixel art because it will transfer over cleanly to voxels. To begin you will need either a PNG or JPG image. There you can find a step by step tutorial on getting Mega Voxels running on your device.

If you need help installing Mega Voxels, view our previous tutorial How to Install Mega Voxels.

This tutorial supports Mega Voxels 1.1 or newer. Now that you have a basic understanding of the process of how to import a photo into Mega Voxels we will explore the specific steps.
